Umbwe route 7 days Kilimanjaro Climbing in 2023, 2024, and 2025
The 7-Day Umbwe Route is a truly difficult route because it is the shortest route with a high steep slope to climb the Kilimanjaro mountain and is widely regarded as the most difficult because it requires trekkers who are physically and mentally strong and fit. This route has a low altitude for acclimatization, though hikers must navigate challenging sections of rock and ice, using ropes and harnesses to safely ascend steep cliffs and narrow ridges. The 7-day Umbwe route is most unique for those hikers who seek unforgettable adventure. Book with us in 2023, 2024 and 2025Day 1: Umbwe Gate to Umbwe Camp
Breakfast will be provided early, there you will have a briefing from your guide at 9 am our staff will take you on the hour-long drive from your hotel in Moshi to the Umbwe village where your guides and porters will prepare your equipment and supplies.
Day two (2): Umbwe Camp Barranco Camp
7 Day Umbwe route climb Kilimanjaro-Africa with Walmart tours Rise early for coffee or tea.
Day three (3): Barranco Camp Acclimatization
You will spend Day 3 exploring near Barranco Camp for much-needed acclimatization.
Day four (4): Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp
After sleeping below the Great Barranco Wall, you get your chance to tackle this hurdle.
Day five (5): Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp
After breakfast, you’ll head east crossing over multiple ridges and valleys until you join up with the Mweka Route and turn left to continue up the ridge for an hour to reach the Barafu Hut.
Day six (6): SUMMIT DAY! Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp
your bid for the peak. You will climb 6 hours through thick scree following multiple switchbacks between the Ratzel and Rebmann glaciers until you reach Stella Point (18,650 ft/5,685 m).
Day seven (7): Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate
Wake up for breakfast as usual, pack and descend through a short scenic 3-hour hike to Mweka Gate.
