The Best and Unique 3 days Mount Meru Climbing with Momela route Luxury Tour packages in 2023, 2024 and 2025
Take this unique and exciting three-day trip to Mount Meru with the Momela Route. Mount Meru was discovered to be the second-highest mountain in Tanzania, with an elevation of 4,566 meters (14,980 feet) above sea level. It is also the fifth-highest mountain on the African continent. Mount Meru is home to a wide range of flora and fauna, including several endemic species. The mountain is surrounded by a national park with amazing wildlife experiences, which is home to elephants, giraffes, baboons, and a variety of bird species. Mount Meru has a large volcanic crater, which is visible from the summit. The crater is approximately 2.2 kilometers (1.4 miles) in diameter and contains a number of small cones and craters.Day 1: Drive from Arusha Momela Gate to Miriakampa Hut
Starting from Momela Gate, the track passes through open grassland with cape buffalo and warthogs. With luck you may also see giraffe and elephants. Continue a steady climb through montane forest
Day 2: Hike Miriakampa Hut to Saddle Hut, afternoon hike up Little Meru
The walk from Miriakampa Hut to the saddle below Little Meru is a steep sustained climb all the way. Starting through beautiful and lush montane forest, the path continues beyond the halfway point of Elephant Back Ridge and carries on uphill through the giant heather and other moorland vegetation to reach Saddle Hut for lunch.
Day 3: Hike to Summit then down to trail head, return to Arusha
Summit day has an early start at around 12:00AM. There is a 1-hour steep climb to Rhino Point, then the path continues along a ridge of ash and rock to reach Cobra Point.
